Solid wood is the natural, durable, and versatile material used in furniture and interior design. It comes in various types, each with unique characteristics:

– *Teak* is known for its rich color and resistance to moisture, perfect for outdoor furniture.
– *Oak*: A strong, dense wood with a natural grain, widely used for flooring and furniture.
– *Mahogany*: Offers deep reddish-brown hues, commonly used for fine furniture due to its elegance.
– *Pine*: A light, affordable wood with a subtle grain, often used for rustic or country-style furniture.
– *Walnut*: A dark, luxurious wood with a fine grain, ideal for high-end furniture and cabinetry.

HDF

HDF (High-Density Fiberboard)  is a type of engineered wood product made from wood fibers compressed under high pressure. It is denser and harder than MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) and is used where strength and durability are required.

Thickness:*
HDF boards typically range in thickness from 3mm to 12mm. The most common thickness is around 6mm to 8mm, depending on the specific application.

 Sizes:*
HDF sheets are usually available in standard sizes of 4′ x 8′ (1220mm x 2440mm) but can be customized as needed.

 Waterproof and Non-Waterproof:*
– *Waterproof HDF:* This type is treated with special resins or coatings to make it resistant to moisture and water, ideal for areas exposed to high humidity or direct water contact.
– *Non-Waterproof HDF:* This type is not treated for water resistance and is suitable for dry, indoor applications only. It can absorb water if exposed to high moisture levels, leading to swelling and damage.

Plywood is an engineered wood made by gluing together thin layers (veneers) of wood, with alternating grain directions to increase strength and stability. It is a durable, versatile material widely used in various construction and furniture projects.

 *Sizes of Plywood:*
– *Standard Size*: 4 feet x 8 feet (1220 mm x 2440 mm).
– *Custom Sizes*: Available, 

 *Thickness of Plywood:*
– *1/8 inch (3 mm)*: Thin plywood, used for small projects and crafts.
– *1/4 inch (6 mm)*: For lightweight furniture and furniture back panel.
– *1/2 inch (12 mm)*: Used for shelving and cabinetry and paneling
– *3/4 inch (18 mm)*: Strong plywood, ideal for flooring and heavy-duty furniture body.
– *1 inch (25 mm)*: Rarely used, for heavy-duty construction requiring extra strength.

 *Types of Plywood:*
1. *Waterproof Plywood*:
– Made with waterproof adhesive, this type is resistant to water damage and is used in areas exposed to moisture, such as bathrooms and kitchens.
– Often referred to as *Marine Plywood*, it’s specifically designed to withstand prolonged exposure to water.

2. *Non-Waterproof Plywood*:
– This type is not resistant to moisture and is typically used for indoor applications in dry areas where water exposure is minimal.

*Blockboard* is an engineered wood product made with softwood strips glued together, and layers of thin veneer on both sides. It’s known for its strength and durability.

– *Standard Size*: 8 ft x 4 ft (2400 mm x 1200 mm)
– *Thickness*: Ranges from 12 mm to 25 mm, with 19 mm to 20 mm being most common.

*Waterproof vs Non-Waterproof Blockboard:*

– *Waterproof Blockboard*:
– Treated with waterproof adhesives, ideal for kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor furniture.
– Resists moisture, swelling, and warping.

– *Non-Waterproof Blockboard*:
– Made with standard adhesives, vulnerable to water damage.
– Best for dry areas like living rooms and bedrooms.

A *flash door* is a flat, smooth door commonly used in homes and offices. It has a simple design and is either a solid core or a hollow core.

– *Size:* Standard sizes are *3×7 feet* or *2.5×7 feet*, but custom sizes are also available.
– *Thickness:* Typically ranges from *30 mm to 45 mm*.
– *Uses:* Primarily used for internal doors but also for external applications when durability is needed.

*Waterproof vs Non-Waterproof:*
– *Waterproof flush doors* are treated to resist moisture, making them suitable for bathrooms or outdoor use.
– *Non-waterproof flush doors* are for indoor use only, where moisture is not a concern

MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard)  is an engineered wood made from wood fibers, resin, and wax, which are compressed under heat to form a dense, smooth board. It has a fine, even texture, making it easy to paint or laminate.

– *Standard Sizes:* Typically, MDF comes in 4 feet x 8 feet (1220mm x 2440mm) sheets, although other sizes may also be available.
– *Thickness:* MDF is available in various thicknesses, including 3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 16mm, 18mm, 25mm, and 30mm. The thickness chosen depends on the intended use and strength required.

*Waterproof vs Non-Waterproof MDF:*
– *Waterproof MDF:* This version is treated with special resins or coatings to make it resistant to moisture and water damage, making it suitable for use in high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
– *Non-Waterproof MDF:* Regular MDF without water resistance. It is susceptible to swelling and damage if exposed to moisture, so it’s not recommended for wet environments.
